Returning home from the hospital, rehabilitation facility, or nursing home can be a challenging and often frightening experience for seniors and their families. Home Therapy Services

Home therapy services can assist seniors in restoring mobility after a fall, a stroke or orthopedic surgery. Physicians typically will order home therapy after a stay in a rehab facility following an orthopedic event.

Therapy services may also be ordered or recommended for general weakness or muscle disorder or to help clients recuperate after a major health event i.e., open heart surgery.

Physical therapy
A physical therapist works to restore mobility, and improve gait and endurance using a set of repetitive exercises
Occupational therapy
The Occupational therapists assist individuals with activities of daily life such as cooking and showering following a stroke; they also help restore function and mobility of upper limbs i.e., after shoulder surgery.
Speech therapy
The speech therapist assists clients improve their speech and swallowing capabilities following a stroke or other debilitating illness or event.

Medical Social Worker Services

A social worker can assist a client and family navigate the different community service options available. Social workers can also assist when seniors transition to an assisted living facility.
